Working collaboratively with designer Craig Oldham we produced the first baton (artwork) for Art Relay’s Team 6 – consisting of Ill Studio, Thomas Mailaender and Max Lamb who in turn reworked the original artwork in response to the brief set out by exhibition curators KK Outlet.
The fun started by taking Craig’s text “IT’S NOT THE WINNING BUT THE TAKING DRUGS THAT COUNTS” setting it in 12 Line Grotesque Bold Wood type and then debossing this into a very shiny gold sheet of 270gsm Chromolux board. Little did we know what was to come next…
Ill Studio cut our poster up and made some ‘rude’ words, Thomas Mailaender smashed up Ill Studio’s work with a sex toy and axe and set it on fire and finally Max Lamb calmed things down a bit and made a piece of furniture out of it.
Not bad for something that started life in sunny Bradford and ended up on a gallery wall in London — it was a blast, big thanks to Craig & everyone else involved.
